Am I a good fit?

It did not cross my mind to be a full time trader, in past decade, simply because I love my job. It gave me many opportunities and also provided me with decent income to fulfill my financial commitment.
I began to be an active trader since covid 19 when I was retrenched. In general, market was good last year and I made a decent income based on some basic investing knowledge and luck, of course. it has been a choppy year in 2022 thus far and I began to self evaluate if I posses the quality to be a full time trader. Areas I asked myself include
- do I enjoy learning and doing technical analysis and charting?
- can I be discipline and emotionless in executing trades? I have bad experience where I made big losses due to my procrastination and not following my original trading plan.
- am I mentally fit, and have a strong heart, to withstand the market turmoil?
I still not convinced if I and a good fit, am giving myself another year to learn and explore. It was challenging during Feb and March when US and HK market meltdown. I had to top up margin account up to 3 times a week - definitely stressful!!
I force myself to reflect on my losing trades. Some lessons learnt include proper sizing of trade (don't over expose especially when market is choppy), avoid FOMO trades and stick with trading plan. Continue to enhance skillset and more importantly, exercise regularly to keep fit, both physically and mentally.
