If we have recession. Is it better to hold in to stocks or sell them all now and keep the cash?

I have stocks and just heard news how we can have a recession. My stock prices are good but if recession hits will it all go red? I am ok with selling everything right now and cashing out 100% so that I have the money ready to use. Or is it better to leave it? Not sure how prices will be affected I just got into stocks last year and I need to buy an engagement ring. I have been buying up stocks and etf to store the cash on the side instead of it sitting in a bank dry. $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ $SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ $Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ.US)$ $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ $Dajin Lithium Corp (DJI.CA)$
