Banking and commodity stocks outperformed as US stocks rose for a second session. As on Monday night, the main indices seesawed in and out of negative territory as bulls and bears battled for control.
The $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ was strongest of the major benchmarks with a rise of 20 points or 0.48 per cent. The $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ gained 67 points or 0.2 per cent. The $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ added 28 points or 0.22 per cent.

$Nickel Industries Ltd (NIC.AU)$: Nickel Mines has completed the acquisition of a further 20 per cent interest in Oracle Nickel and now holds a 30 per cent interest in the project.
$JB Hi Fi Ltd (JBH.AU)$: JB Hi-Fi said it predicted heightened customer demand and strong sales growth in the third quarter of the 2022 financial year, and this momentum has continued into the fourth quarter to date.
$ANZ Group Holdings Ltd (ANZ.AU)$: ANZ Banking Group earned a $3.1 billion cash profit, up 4 per cent year-on-year for the first-half, and will pay an interim dividend of 72¢ a share fully franked, unchanged from the previous payout.
$Flight Centre Travel Group Ltd (FLT.AU)$: Flight Centre says the recovery in travel is well underway, with travel restrictions removed, or significantly eased, in most locations around the world.
