Buffett believes there are 10 books that everyone should read.
Buffett once said that he spends 80% of his time reading every day.
In order to promote reading, a special program is set up at the annual shareholders' meeting, where some discounted books or CDs are sold at the market stalls, actually recommending some good works.
The following is a compilation of some books recommended by Buffett. If we are not destined to be as wealthy as Buffett, at least we can be more diligent than him.
1. "The Intelligent Investor", written by Benjamin Graham.
“The Intelligent Investor”,Benjamin Graham
“早在1950年刚出版时我就阅读了这本书,当时我只有19岁。那时我就认为这是有史以来最伟大的投资著作。现在我仍然这么认为。”
巴菲特称,这本由价值投资之父格雷厄姆所著的书教会了他,“做个一生成功的投资人不需要极高的智商、非同寻常的商业洞见和内部消息。你只需要一个用于决策的可靠知识框架,和避免情绪影响决策的能力。”
2.《证券分析》,本杰明·格雷厄姆 著
“Security Analysis”,Benjamin Graham
“Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits”,Philip A.Fisher
When I met him, he personally left a deep impression on me similar to his thoughts. Understanding a company thoroughly with Fisher's technique can enable a person to make intelligent investments. In his book, Fisher emphasizes that just focusing on financial reports is not enough, you also need to evaluate a company's management. Buffett calls himself a 'keen reader of Phil, whatever he has to say.'
4. 'Stress Test', written by Timothy Geithner.
'Stress Test', by Timothy F. Geithner.
Former US Treasury Secretary Geithner tells how he led a government department during the financial crisis. Buffett once said this book is a must-read for every manager.
5. 'The Essays of Warren Buffett', written by Warren Buffett.
'The Essays of Warren Buffett', by Warren Buffett.
This book collects the essence of Warren Buffett's letters to shareholders over more than 20 years, each one explaining a part of his career and investment philosophy. Buffett famously said, 'In a game of intellectual competition, what could be more advantageous to you than making your opponent feel thinking is a waste of energy?'
6. 'Jack: Straight from the Gut', written by Jack Welch.
"Jack: Straight From the Gut"
Welch is the "Tiger Woods" of the management world, and all CEOs want to emulate him. They may not catch up to him, but by carefully listening to what he says, they can get closer to him.
In his autobiography, Welch detailed how he grew from a working-class child to CEO of General Electric. Buffett described Welch as "smart, energetic, and hands-on."
7. "The Outsiders", William N. Thorndike
"The Outsiders", William N. Thorndike
Thorndike's book discusses the successful models of top executives at companies like The Washington Post and Prentice. Buffett praised this book as "an outstanding work on CEOs who excel at capital allocation."
8. "The Clash of the Cultures: Investment vs. Speculation", John Bogle
"The Clash of the Cultures: Investment vs. Speculation", John Bogle
The founder of Vanguard fund believes that long-term investment is being crowded out by short-term speculation. Buffett recommended this book in his 2012 shareholder letter.
9. 'Business Adventures' by John Brooks

10. 'Where Are the Customer's Yachts?' by Fred Schweb
'Where Are the Customer's Yachts?' by Fred Schweb
Buffett said: 'This book was first published in 1940, it is the best book ever published on the subject of investment, wisely elucidating many profound insights on investment themes.'
