The minutes of the May regular meeting of the Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve held its May regular meeting on May 4 in Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States. ezy_invest has compiled the highlights of this regular meeting here:
- The Federal Reserve announced a 50 basis point rate hike this month, up from 25 basis points at the last regular meeting. This is also the first time since 2000 that interest rate hikes have reached 50 basis points, and the federal funds rate was raised to 0.75% - 1%
-The Federal Reserve announced that it will begin downsizing on June 1. The scale reduction for the first three months was 47.5 billion dollars per month (30 billion from US Treasury bonds, 17.5 billion from institutional bonds)
-After September 1, it will accelerate to 95 billion dollars per month (60 billion US Treasury bonds and 35 billion institutional bonds)
