Sea beats revenue estimate but loss widensin Q1 2022.
$Sea (SE.US)$ The Q1 revenue topped analysts’estimate of $2.76 billion and sent Sea’s stocks jumping in early Tuesday trade in the US.
Sea has tweaked its full-vear guidance to reflect what it described as “elevated macro uncertainties." The firm said GAAP revenue for its e-commerce segment should be between $8.5 billion and $9.1 billion, a growth rate of 71.8%, due to the effects of the uncertainties on Shopee’s full-year performance. The previous guidance was between $8.9 billion and $9.1 billion.
Shopee, the company’s e-commerce unit,sawa 94.2% rise in revenue to about $1.5 billion in the January-March period, from just $772 million a year earlier.
Shopee's adjusted EBITDA loss per order was $0.40 in Q12022, compared to $0.38 for the same period in 2021 which was mainly attributable to HQ costs increase.
