What is a high dividend (dividend-paying) stock?

It is a stock with a high dividend yield.

Annual Dividend yield = (annual dividend per share / price per share) * 100%, which is the money a company pays shareholders for owning shares of stock..

Why consider high dividend stocks?

A high-yield stock is a stock whose dividend yield is higher than the yield of any benchmark average such as the ten-year United States Department of the Treasury. The classification of a high-yield stock is relative to the criteria of any given analyst. There is no set standard for judging whether a dividend yield is high or low.
