Children's Day: Create a financial poster for children

When I was a child I learnt of budgeting and savings from a strict allowance regime

I wasn't born in a well to do family, and financial resources are very limited. Other kids get to use their tears (crying) in exchange for toys from their parents, my tears only brings about more tears. Other kids can easily get what they want from their parents, be it Pokemon cards or the latest toys, but not me.
But what I do get is a weekly allowance, a small sum of money meant for food in school. That had taught me a lot about budgeting my money, because if I spent it all in day 1, I will be hungry in school for the rest of the week There is no top up, what you get is what you get. So from young, budgeting and managing small amount of money is a skill that I learnt through a strict allowance regime.
Whenever I want to buy toys like Pokemon cards, I would have to eat less, spend less, and even skip meals, so that I can save enough money to buy them. Those cards are seen as a waste of money in my parent eyes, so no amount of crying or begging will get me a pack of cards. The feeling when I managed to save enough to buy the things I want are amazing. So a strict allowance regime had taught me how to save and delay gratification (though i had no choice).
Though these experience, I still kept the habit of budgeting and saving my salary. The hardship I experience when I was young kind of pay off now as I don't have a problem with overspending or not saving enough.
If I have kids, I will implement the same strict allowance regime for them. Let them go hungry for a bit and they will learn the value of financial prudence If you have kids, maybe you can consider it too
