2022 Mid-Year Review
The first half of the year 2022 has been more bearish than bullish for investors with news of rising inflation, supply chain disruptions, war in Ukraine, COVID-19, cryptocurrency crash of LUNA, companies posting lesser than expected earnings and uniquely to Singapore, an increase of 2% GST (increase in business costs). In this fluctuating market, I believe the key to survival is Diversification and Value Investing. As you can see, currently I have a 1.79% loss in the principal capital of my invested $CapLand Ascendas REIT(A17U.SG$ due to market fluctuation but if I follow the principle of value investing in a company with good foundation, in the long run, I will recover my loss from the annual dividends distributed and capital gains in the value of my stock.
The secret to my reasonable % of monthly return is always to buy more stocks of a good company at the right opportunity. You can diversify your portfolio by investing in markets of different countries, stocks, REITs and funds in different industries or even into cryptocurrency or rare metals like gold/silver. You can keep making profits if the product that you invest in has a solid foundation and is able to appreciate in value and give you reasonable returns in the long run.![]()
