Why China is more williong to test millions than trust vaccination?
Much of its population is fully vaccinated, but China's government is still hesitant about what a small fatality rate can do in the world's biggest population.
Shanghai just emerged from a grueling two-month lockdown to relief of its residents. But worries about further "closed management" movement restrictions presist as all districts are required to conduct mass Covid-19 tesing every weekend.
The spread of the highly transmissble Omicron variant has inflicted enormous socioeconomic losses upon China since the beginning of this year, with lockdowns in large sities like Shanghai, shutting factories and production lines.
But should they try to make a balance between maintaining economic growth and containing Covid-19? The rest of the world has gradually reopened to live with the virus, why is China still more willing to test and lockdown millions of people instead?

维尼神熊 : one must understand that whinnie has tied himself to the success of fighting the virus. by that logic, any rebound would mean whinnie’s legitimacy is at stake. so he would do everything to keep himself in power, at the expense of the vegetables.
bullrider_21 : Due to China's huge population of 1.4b people, Xi thinks its better to have zero Covid policy. Because, otherwise it will have 400k- 500k cases every day. There will be a huge cost to treat them and a severe strain on the healthcare sector. Xi thinks that with lockdown prevention, the cases are far lower and cost is also lower. China has high domestic consumption which can sustain its economy.
