Invest for retirement and retirement age

65 years old is a good retirement age and time to enjoy the last quarter of life as long as I have enough for daily expenses, be happy and continue to invest in stocks.  Be alert and physically and mentally resilience

  • whqqq : You're right. People have struggled for most of their lives, and the remaining quarter of their lives should be enjoyed.[undefined]

  • MooMamaLlama : I agree. we should be able to enjoy life at some point!
here in Oz our government was calling on retired professionals to go back to work for the last 2 yrs... after massive skills shortage caused by high cost of education and high cost of living for years...
all the younger generations have to work just to afford an education. Unfortunately our system is failing. We already locked a generation out of affording to buy a home, now education is on the chopping block. Sure we have HECS, meaning the money you earn goes to living whilst studying then when you graduate you have a lovely $10K-20k+ debt to work off also. there are some changes since 2020 but many changes are temporary due to the pandemic. Its shaken our systems, and we finally voted Labour back in after a decade of Liberal nonsense so hopefully things will change. I could not afford to get my final diploma after studying, being certified, then having children, meant the final degree was now out of reach. Kids cost a lot of time and money!
Our system isn't really geared to help women get back to work, childcare means losing money by going to work. earn 250 in a day but pay $70 tax per day, 130 childcare per day, 10 lunch, 10+ fuel pd(we pay 2.20 pL)left with 30 chump change from the 250 earned! even a pack of 20 cigarettes is $30-40!!!!

So who wouldn't turn to investing in such an environment! our banks are in scandals giving themselves huge bonuses while shareholders lose out and inflation eats at savings that return nothing.
again, who wouldn't turn to investing?!?!
