The average price of regular gasoline in the United States hit a record high in mid-June, climbing to $5.00 for the first time in history. The price slightly declined in the following weeks, dropping to an average of $4.77 on July 4th. Over the past 12 months, gasoline prices in the US have soared by over 50%. According to the US Energy Information Administration, currently, gasoline prices are highest in several states and cities on the West Coast, with the average price of regular gasoline reaching $6.04 in California and $6.11 in San Francisco.
