Investing: 80% mindset, 10% stock and strategy, and 10% money management
Tell us about your investing experience.
It all started ten years ago. I had been studying investing off and on for 4 years and made my first investment 6 years ago. I have made all the mistakes that a naïve investor or trader made and lost more than 5 figures in 2 years. Then I relearned everything and finally found my own way 3 years ago and this period generated the most profit.
What's your first investment?
My first investment was option on Philip Morris(PM), but it ended up losing all my money. In my opinion, the option is one of the very misleading instruments in the market as many gurus are marketing that option is simple as ABC and can bring fast money. Although it is one of the best instruments to profit or even earn a living, it is also one of the most complicated instruments to master.
What's your investment preference?
Generally speaking, I focus more on long-term investing, while also trying to sneak some quick profit through short-mid term trading. For US stocks, I prefer growth stocks with strong fundamentals and in a good trend. For SG stocks, I focus more on dividend stocks with reasonable growth and yield.
Now I trade SG stocks, mainly for REIT to earn some dividends and Singapore has some good reits that can grow (capital gain) and give juicy dividends at the same time.
What do you think is the most important factor in investment?
Probably the key elements to profit in the stock market are: 80% mindset, 10% stock and strategy, and 10% money management. In fact, I am very thankful for all my mistakes and managed to make me sharpen my skills and most importantly, my trading/investing mindset. Unfortunately, many investors/traders stop and give up after losing money, where they are just one step away from being a profitable investor/trader.
What inspired you to share your experience on YouTube?
Since I entered the stock market, my friends have been asking me many questions about investing. What surprised me is that many people do not know how to invest or think the market is like a casino: either become rich or jump from the high floor (commit suicide). Then I think why not share some investing knowledge with them through videos on YouTube. Sooner, I found out that preparing videos was quite fun, and when I prepare material, I am in fact getting more new insights and managing to further improve myself. Then I told myself I needed to make it a habit.
Why moomoo?
How did you know about moomoo?
From moomoo's advertisement in Singapore. I download it and found the welcome offer is very good. Then I researched it to check if it was a scam or not.
Why did you choose moomoo?
The key things to convinces me to put my money in Moomoo are MAS (Singapore agency) regulated and SIPC coverage.
Will you introduce moomoo to others? How?
Yep! I have already introduced most of my friends to try on moomoo if they want to start investing. I would list some advantages of this platform. For example, its MAS regulated and SIPC coverage can make us not need to worry about our funds. It allows easy and fast deposit and withdrawal through Singapore bank. Also, moo community is a great place to learn from each other, and you can even win some points or prices by taking part in the challenges or activities.

Milk The Cow : Hahaha, I have the same thought as him... is it a scam?
U cannot believe but Singapore Brokers are like...
lightfoot : not sure, but after due diligence is applied. do they buy large quantities then see a 12 to .25% drop.. due to economics. high interest rates and inflation. . Dollar averaging minimizes risk with an average cost basis. Set your orders for lower price acquisition knowing the stock will rise on earnings. Play the economy news not the stock. supposedily you did that! price buying vs economy =future higher profits. get to know what effects your stock price. one thing you can do. Sell at a loss. wait for good opportunities and buy back st lower prices and accumulate. If this stock reaches a good price. take profits and keep milking the cow. Mooo!.
JM investor Milk The Cow : I guess that was my first time to know such kind of broker offer. I was using TOS and IB and there were no such promotion.
Milk The Cow JM investor : Yar . It's so much difference the fees .
Of course I'll jump platform .
