Is investing in property a good idea?

According to the Q2 Market Report, Singapore's private rents increased by 6.7% in the Q2 of the year. Analysts believe that inflationary pressures and rising interest rates may prompt landlords to raise rents, with further increases expected in the second half of the year, which could range from 13 to 18% for the year as a whole.
With the reopening of the border, a surge in demand for rental accommodation from expatriate professionals and delays in private housing projects prompting more locals to rent, the private rental market is facing a shortage of supply and high rents.

I have seen a lot of good news about the real estate industry, is investing in property a good idea for young people between 25-35 years old?

  • UNeverSleppWell : first, we need to understand what's going on with the property price today. they are driven mainly by demand and supply. Market today is a classic case of supply and demand imbalance that was created by covid-19. The pandemic caused the supply of the BTO has been severely distrupted with ongoing projects being delayed and newer projects having a lead time of 5-7 years. if you are young buyers who are looking to set it down are now forced to wait a long time. Also, if are going to buy property now, you are forced to either accept the price that the seller set or wait a long time to settle down. Just my personal opinion, not advice.[undefined]

  • USleepUDie : Let's think about when the baby boomer generation passes on, what is going to happen to their HDB?

  • SG Thomas : I guess will need to see government projection of Singapore population for next 10 to 20 years. (if population continue to increase then will have demand)

  • 71518529 : Hi Felayt, I definitely believe real estate is a great investment for the younger generation.. Did you buy any Tesla when it was down?

  • Felayt OP 71518529 : i agree young generation should invest in real estate, but might not a right time in Singapore right now. Investing in REITs may be an option though. BTW, i noticed tsla in a low price position in last couple of weeks, but i didn't buy. Did you?

  • 71518529 Felayt OP : Yes I’ve been buying for awhile now just holding waiting for the split.. Should have about 1600 shares after the split.. Going to be 3 for 1. Hope your doing well .. Good luck with the trading make some money..

  • 71518529 : Hi Felayt , hope all is well in SG.. Tesla has a shareholder meeting on the 4th of August then we should know when the 3 for 1 stock split takes place might be a good time to pick up shares after the split..

  • jkak : Do you think gov will boost the population with the limitated land avaibility in singapore? Come one. The only way to boost the property price will make sense to attract more foreign investment and foreign talent, cause they are have the capacity to buy private properties. Ban foreigner? You dreaming sia

  • Felayt OP 71518529 : good to know that, Hope it would be a good time to take![undefined]

  • 71518529 : How about NIO? I bought it and sold it a few times as far as EV’s Tesla has the market right now.. Look at Tesla after the split if it drops any I’m buying more..
