The share market rose for a sixth session after the Reserve Bank raised its key rate by 50 basis points for a third straight month.
The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU$ flipped an early 48-point fall into a gain of five points or 0.07 per cent. The index poked its head above 7000 for the first time since June 10 before closing just off its intraday high at 6998.
Most of the recovery followed a 2.30 pm AEST announcement that the central bank raised the cash rate target to 1.85 per cent, as widely expected.
$Zip Co Ltd(ZIP.AU$ rose for the first time in three sessions after paring a rally that saw its market cap briefly triple last week. The BNPL player bounced 15.09 per cent. Afterpay parent company $Block Inc(SQ2.AU$ rallied 2.71 per cent.
$Centuria Office REIT(COF.AU$ dropped 8.36 per cent after forecasting a decline in funds from operations (FFO) this financial year as interest rates bite. The pure-play office trust expects FFO to fall to 15.8 cents per unit in FY23 from 18.2 cents in FY22. Distributions are expected to fall to 14.4 cents per unit from 16.6 cpu.
