:
if you with to get out of DBS and the dividend is already declared. it doesn't really matter if you get out before or after ex div date. let's use the current price of $33.27 as an example and assume price will remain.
if you sell before ex div date, you get $33.27 per share on the day you sell.
if you sell ok or after ex div date, you get $32.91 per share on the day you sell, and $0.36 on 26 Aug. Why is the price of DBS $32.91 on or after ex div? this is because price will drop by dividend amount, because the company just lost that amount of value as they gave out cash. Otherwise there is "free" money that is created out of thin air.

:
May I know since the shares price will drop to 32.91 after minus the dividend amount, is it more worth if we sell 1 day or few days before the xdate (usually the high price), then buy again on or after the xdate after the price drop?

Win All Money OP Roll2me : Thank you! I'm worried if I sell on the day of Ex-Div, I'll be stuck with DBS for a long while..
Win All Money OP Roll2me : so it means if I wished to get of DBS, I need to sell before Ex-Div date, foregoing the dividends..
