- Selling FOMO - Very simply -- I don't want to regret selling a business too soon because I could not see the forest through the trees.
- Biggest Mistakes - I'm yet to hear an investor I admire say, "Thank God I sold that tiny underperforming position for a loss and reinvested it elsewhere." I'm sure someone has said that, but I have heard too many great investors say they regret selling XYZ company too soon.
- Timing - Even if I could sell a handful of tiny positions to buy one new "core" holding, I face the issue of not only having to time all of those sales but being correct with my new investment and its thesis -- as well as its own purchase timing.
Simply put -- I'm a flawed investor. I'm not going to be able to perfectly predict when an investment thesis "officially" breaks for good -- so I'm just going to let them run and avoid FOMO from selling too soon.
