The share market suffered its biggest weekly loss since June as the heavily-weighted mining sector fell for a fifth day.

The $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ seesawed in and out of positive territory before fading to a loss of 17 points or 0.25 per cent this afternoon.
For the week, the Australian benchmark fell 275 points or almost 3.9 per cent, its worst weekly result since a 6.6 per cent plunge in mid-June.
Gains today in property, banking and healthcare stocks were outweighed by declines in commodity stocks.

Financials was the pick of the sectors after touching a five-week low yesterday. $Macquarie Group Ltd (MQG.AU)$ led with a rise of 1.58 per cent. $CommBank (CBA.AU)$ gained 0.94 per cent, $ANZ Group Holdings Ltd (ANZ.AU)$ 0.49 per cent, $National Australia Bank Ltd (NAB.AU)$ 0.79 per cent and $Westpac Banking Corp (WBC.AU)$ 0.8 per cent.
Real estate investment trusts trimmed a losing week. $GPT Group (GPT.AU)$ bounced 2.67 per cent, $Mirvac Group (MGR.AU)$ 1.46 per cent and $Charter Hall Retail REIT (CQR.AU)$ 1.73 per cent.
A pause in this week's rally in bond yields allowed room for recovery for select growth stocks. $Life360 Inc (360.AU)$ popped 5.56 per cent. $Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (CUV.AU)$ gained 2.34 per cent.

Resource stocks spearheaded today's retreat. Among the heavyweights, $Fortescue Ltd (FMG.AU)$ fell 2.49 per cent. $Rio Tinto Ltd (RIO.AU)$ shed 2.52 per cent.
This week's fierce rally in uranium stocks ran into headwinds overnight. The $Global X Uranium ETF (URA.US)$ reversed 4.58 per cent.
Here, $Elevate Uranium Ltd (EL8.AU)$ slid 9.57 per cent, $Bannerman Energy Ltd (BMN.AU)$ 8.3 per cent and $Paladin Energy Ltd (PDN.AU)$ 6.55 per cent.
