Former President Donald Trump is campaigning ahead of the midterm elections coming up in November. At a rally in Pennsylvania this weekend, he went on a rant about electric vehicles and attacked two of his main opponents: Joe Biden and Elon Musk.

Trump first highlighted how the price of gasoline was much lower when he was in office and how he wasn't pushing for electric vehicles like the current administration. He hinted he would roll back any such subsidies.
As we all know, Biden pushed through a series of signature legislative wins for his policy agenda including tax breaks for electric vehicles popularized by Musk's $Tesla (TSLA.US)$.
Trump claimed an all-electric vehicle was getting "38 miles per gallon" and even suggested that "we need to rid of the stuff." He also added it allegedly took people "more time to charge the damn car" than spent driving it.

Any rollback on EVs would likely hurt Musk's business. The data from industry research firm Kelley Blue Book shows that every two out of three new EVs sold in the country sported a Tesla badge on the hood.
Trump and Musk are in the midst of a fiery online feud.

Most recently, Musk said Trump shouldn't run for president again in 2024. In response, the former president Trump branded Musk "another bullshit artist" and bashed what he called Musk's "electric cars that don't drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere."
