Analyst Reports

There are 2 types of reports - paid and free.
For paid report, the paying client receives the report and then it is released to the public a few days later. The paying client and insiders have a few days to react to the report.
For free report, insiders may react to the report before it is released to the public.
When the report is released, there may be a sudden increase / decrease in price or volume. We can use TA to respond to the price/ volume action before the report is made public.
In the reports, analysts give their ratings and their 1-year target prices (tp). Because different analysts use different assumptions, you may have different ratings (buy, hold, sell) and wide-ranging tp for the same stock. From my experience, the tp are not reached. If the stocks are very bullish or bearish, the ratings may be upgraded or downgraded and the tp revised upwards or downwards. Again, the new reports' tp are not reached.
Sometimes, there is some manipulation. If analysts want the prices to fall, they'll reduce the tp. If they want the prices to rise, they will increase the tp. So just use the reports as guides, but don't follow blindly and take them with a pinch of salt.
