Elon Musk Calls Instagram an 'Envy Amplifier' After Previously Calling It a 'Thirst Trap'
Elon Musk is ubiquitous on social media.
When he prepares for a court battle with $Twitter (Delisted) (TWTR.US)$, Musk has just warned against Instagram, the social network belonging to $Meta Platforms (META.US)$, the empire of Mark Zuckerberg.
"Instagram is an envy amplifier," the billionaire recently commented on Twitter. Musk's statements came in response to a clip of Charlie Munger talking about greed.
The slightly over-one-minute video showed how Warren Buffett's right-hand man talked about how he has removed envy from his life.
"The world is not driven by greed, it is driven by envy," the vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway said. "And so, the fact that everybody's five times better off than they used to be, they take it for granted. All they think about is somebody else having more now, and it's not fair that he should have it and they don't.”
Musk used to think Insta was just a 'thirst trap'. In August, he revealed that he does have a private account, but has stopped using it after discovering he was wasting his time and taking too many selfies. Instead, he said that for whatever he wants to express, he can use Twitter.
It is worth noting that when Musk replied to the tweet, the replies got cluttered with crypto spam, including ten fake Elon accounts. This demonstrates the number of bots still being used on Twitter.

This coincides with his previous statements saying 90% of his comments are bots. Twitter previously claimed that only 5% of accounts on their social media platform were bots or spam.
