After Tesla's batteries started a major fire, Michael Burry, the prototype for the movie The Big Short and founder of Scion Asset Management, took a veiled swipe at the company. Burry said, "If I was tweeting, you can bet I wouldn't be shorting it. But I should (short it)."
Scion Asset Management exited its short position in Tesla sometime in the third quarter of 2021 after holding more than 1 million shares in put options. Notably, Scion Asset also sold all of its US shares in the second quarter of 2022. The firm's latest position filing will be released on or about November 15.
