Dividend investing can be a great investment strategy: regular income from dividend payments and capital appreciation of the stock price can add up over time. One of the best parts about dividend-paying funds is that they give you the chance to diversify the portfolio into other assets and stocks. They invest in different assets like preferred stocks or shares. The fund takes that cash flow and pays it out regularly to investors. For me, I look at finding the gaps in the portfolios of individual stocks by observing exposure to stocks or bonds, and also the dividend yield on the fund, the stock price and the fund's expense ratio.
