Foxconn calls out to Tesla: wants to OEM electric cars for it
Foxconn's chief executive and chairman said Tuesday that the company aims to take a 5 percent share of the global electric vehicle manufacturing market by 2025, adding that he wants Tesla to be its customer.
Foxconn unveiled two electric car prototypes on Tuesday - the Model V pickup truck and the Model B sports crossover hatchback. But Foxconn doesn't want to sell its own brand of cars. Instead, it wants to design and build cars for other carmakers. The company claims that it can cut the design time for cars in half and cut development costs by a third for carmakers who want to use its services.
