Why Invest?

No I have never spread joy or goodwill in my community, not even once … no of course I have. I’ve loaned out thousands of dollars that I’ll never get back, so I know exactly how much I’ve helped . I do help in other ways, but could do more. Then again couldn’t we all?
In my opinion people generally chose to invest (not counting mandatory 401Ks/retirement plans) for 2 reasons. 1) To efficiently allocate capital i.e. a kind person may chose to invest in a struggling economy like China right now, or buy US Government Bonds 2) To make money i.e. shorting Game Stop or buying growth stocks (pre 2022 obviously). As Gordon Gekko would say “greed is good” Clearly being a socially responsible company will attract the first kind of investors, but not the second if it costs more or means less profit for them. What type of investor am I? Honestly both, about 50/50, and I do invest in some ESG funds but also some that are the complete opposite, VICE etf for example. I invest in everything because  “It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so. “ – Mark Twain.
Finally on a serious note, having a critical illness sucks, having it as a child doubly sucks. Good Job to moomoo Futu and Make-A-Wish, and Good Luck to all those children. There is more to life than just money… Health is more important than wealth
