prolohz : you don't need to buy back before market close. just be careful when the stock rises too much and force a margin call

QMengColdJoke : you need to buy to cover when you feel good. If you lose too much that you don’t have sufficient margin broker might force buy to cover. Generally speaking if you want to hold short position overnight, it’s always good to buy an far OTM call to cover you from extreme situation.
Ixy The Cat : Your short position is still open until you place a buy order. However if you keep your position open, be aware there is a finance charge to you until you close the position. So you need to factor this in your buy order
