October 2022 OPERATING RESULTS
In October 2022, the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group continued to see strong travel demand, boosted by the Australia and New Zealand spring school break, and the relaxation of travel restrictions to Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan.
SIA and Scoot, the two airlines in the Group, carried a total of 2.3 million passengers in October 2022, up 6.2% from the previous month, as Group passenger capacity (measured in available seat-kilometres) increased by 4.9%. Year-on-year, the Group capacity was up 109.7%, reaching 71% of pre-Covid-19 1 levels during the month.
The Group passenger load factor (PLF) came in at 86.4% in October 2022, marginally lower by 0.6 percentage points on a month-on-month basis, and 66.5 percentage points higher on a year-on-year basis.
Cargo operations registered a load factor of 52.6%, or 34.6 percentage points lower year- on-year. Loads (freight tonne-kilometres) declined by 19.8% year-on-year, while capacity (capacity tonne-kilometres) expanded by 32.9% as increased passenger services resulted in higher bellyhold capacity.
At the end of October 2022, the Groupโs passenger network covered 109 destinations2. SIA resumed flights to Chengdu and Xiamen, while Scoot re-introduced flights to several points in Indonesia (Lombok, Makassar, Pekanbaru, and Yogyakarta) and mainland China (Hangzhou, Wuhan and Zhengzhou). SIA served 76 destinations2, while Scoot served 55 destinations2. The cargo network comprised 115 destinations2.
