Australian shares fell for a third day after stronger-than-expected wages growth firmed up the case for another interest rate hike next month.
The $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ declined 19 points or 0.27 per cent to 7122. The market has been in gentle decline all week following three weeks of gains.

$Nufarm Ltd (NUF.AU)$ popped 8.86 per cent on news it expects to meet or beat its revenue target for the 2026 financial year as soon as this fiscal year.
$Sezzle Inc (SZL.AU)$ climbed 14.95 per cent as improved revenues helped the payment platform edge closer to profitability.
Lithium miners were mixed following heavy losses yesterday as lithium prices retreated. $Allkem Ltd (AKE.AU)$ bounced 2.39 per cent today. $Lake Resources NL (LKE.AU)$ fell 1.38 per cent. $Liontown Resources Ltd (LTR.AU)$ dropped 3.41 per cent. $Core Lithium Ltd (CXO.AU)$ shed 5.41 per cent.
The big four banks lost between 0.29 and 1.78 per cent. $Telstra Group Ltd (TLS.AU)$ shed 1.03 per cent, $CSL Ltd (CSL.AU)$ 0.46 per cent and $Wesfarmers Ltd (WES.AU)$ 0.45 per cent.
