Energy producers led the selling. Defensive sectors such as REITs, telecoms and healthcare companies attracted haven buying.
Traditional defensive sectors outperformed in a falling market. Agribusinesses $Elders Ltd (ELD.AU)$ and $Graincorp Ltd (GNC.AU)$ advanced 1.48 and 1.33 per cent, respectively. $National Storage REIT (NSR.AU)$ put on 2.08 per cent, $Breville Group Ltd (BRG.AU)$ 1.44 per cent and $Cochlear Ltd (COH.AU)$ 1.51 per cent.
