The share market suffered its first setback in a week. The $S&P/ASX 200(.XJO.AU$ declined 30 points or 0.42 per cent to 7229.
Energy producers led the selling. Defensive sectors such as REITs, telecoms and healthcare companies attracted haven buying.
Traditional defensive sectors outperformed in a falling market. Agribusinesses $Elders Ltd(ELD.AU$ and $Graincorp Ltd(GNC.AU$ advanced 1.48 and 1.33 per cent, respectively. $National Storage REIT(NSR.AU$ put on 2.08 per cent, $Breville Group Ltd(BRG.AU$ 1.44 per cent and $Cochlear Ltd(COH.AU$ 1.51 per cent.

Among the heavyweights, $Fortescue Ltd(FMG.AU$ firmed 0.53 per cent, $National Australia Bank Ltd(NAB.AU$ 0.32 per cent, $Telstra Group Ltd(TLS.AU$ 0.25 per cent and $CSL Ltd(CSL.AU$ 0.21 per cent.
$Bank of Queensland Ltd(BOQ.AU$ slumped 5.56 per cent following the sudden, unexpected departure of CEO George Frazis. Lithium miner $Pilbara Minerals Ltd(PLS.AU$ faded 0.9 per cent after announcing a joint venture with Calix to develop a "value-added lithium product".
