Prevent Shorting by placing sell orders on your shares at ridiculously high price eg. $80
$NIO Inc (NIO.US)$found out we can prevent brokers from lending out ours shares if we have sell orders on them. if u do not intend to sell them, u can place a ridiculously high price on your orders.
doing that for two reasons:
1. brokers do not pay me for the interest earned
2. hopefully, fewer orders filled for shorts with borrowed shares…
kind souls out there, let me know if u think i am wrong… i m still learning.

Sounds like a good idea. If I had 800 shares of NIO and if I place a sell order with 500 at $100, these 500 shares are locked up and won’t let the broker to lend out to short seller to borrow. But the other remaining 300 shares is open to borrow, correct.
