Tesla will be the Myspace of the EV market. Tesla Semi will not change that, just like Myspace music did not save Myspace.

Tesla is only #1 in EV because they were first. Their market share will only decrease from here, Tesla Semi will not change that, in 5 years they will not even be a top 5 EV manufacturer.
Tesla created the EV market, no one can deny that. Companies become market makers by creating and cornering a market before there is real competition, then staying ahead of the newcomers.
Tesla is only #1 in the EV space because they created that market and have not yet had to face real world competition. During that time they have failed to establish a market cornering brand. Right now Ford, Chevrolet, and Hyundai/Kia are all competing to be #2 in the EV market had have openly stated their intention to be #1 in the EV space in the next 5 years or so.
Tesla Semi is not their savior, it is proof they are the Myspace of the social media world. Tesla created a market where no one thought one would exist (or so oil propaganda had everyone convinced), but now that the value behind the market has been established, how can Tesla out compete Ford or Toyota?
$Tesla (TSLA.US)$ $Ford Motor (F.US)$ $Toyota Motor (TM.US)$ $NIO Inc (NIO.US)$

  • micjenn : Branding is very important. People will associate EV equal Tesla cos they are the pioneer. Tesla has to continuing innovate to be the market leader. If price is not an issue to a consumer, who would want to buy other EV car brands other than Tesla?

  • TeslaSmurf : Tesla is the APPLE in the EV space:
    •you buy an i-phone OR a NON i-phone
•you buy a Tesla OR a NON Tesla

  • TeslaSmurf : 😂😂😂 So tell me WHY Tesla is making more profits than Toyota which sells 8x number of cars ?
ICE car brands are FORCED to shift to EVs for evironmental and geopolitical reasons (independency on petrol exporting countries like Iran, Arabian kingdoms and Russia) but they don’t want to as most loose money on earth EV they sell: they have plenty of debt, their sales numbers are decreasing and they have to make more debt to finance the shift to EVs that they sell at loss. Not a sustainable position.
States help them with public money (incentives for buyers, tax discounts and capital contributions or no interest loans etc.) but TESLA, which is highly profitable, already mass-produces EV and has virtually NO DEBT, takes the most advantage. The future is even brighter for Tesla. Others are at serious risk.
