Sell individual tech stocks at a loss to invest to ETFs?
I have some individual tech stocks ( $Alphabet-C (GOOG.US)$ , $Microsoft (MSFT.US)$ , $Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US)$ , $Tesla (TSLA.US)$ ) that I bought earlier this year. Anywhere from $2k-$5k of each. Those are now all in the red. Debating if I should sell them (get the capital losses for tax season), and then just reinvest that money into an ETF (like $Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI.US)$ — I already hold a lot of VTI but am cool buying more). Anything I am overlooking? Thanks everyone!
$S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ $SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ $Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ.US)$
$S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ $SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY.US)$ $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ $Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ.US)$

Silverbat : Why ETF? ETFs have gained this ytd?
Silverbat : Raise cash to CDs is better
Lithanjah : The stocks that get sold down more will usually rebound more when market recover. If your stocks are sold down more and if you are able to hold and wait (provided you are holding fundamentally good stocks), it should be fine.
TRIUMPHANT RETURNS : ETFization could cause etf to drop even more. Only buy etf when it's hard to access those individual stocks. JEQ, FLTW, CHIS. worth lookin at.
