AU Evening Wrap: ASX Falls 1.5% as Bank of Japan Rocks Asia Session

Australian shares were swept up in the sell-off across the region sparked by the Bank of Japan putting the bond market on notice that it too is ready to join the war on inflation.
The $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ Index hit an intraday low of 7019.5 points after the meeting, falling as much as 1.6 per cent at the peak of its losses. It closed 1.5 per cent or 109.6 points lower at 7024.3; the All Ordinaries fell 1.7 per cent to 7199.6.
Apparel group $City Chic Collective Ltd (CCX.AU)$ fell 31 per cent to 40.5¢ after the plus-size fashion retailer flagged a first-half, underlying EBITDA loss following reduced revenue and gross margins, and higher fulfilment costs.
$Johns Lyng Group Ltd (JLG.AU)$ sank 12.3 per cent to $5.97 after executive director and chief operating officer Lindsay Barber sold 4 million shares in the property services group representing 31 per cent of his stake.
Iron ore traded in Singapore rose 1.8 per cent to $US109.45 a tonne on the January futures contract. February Brent crude oil gained 0.3 per cent to $US80.07 a barrel.
$BHP Group Ltd (BHP.AU)$ fell 1.6 per cent to $45.26 and $Rio Tinto Ltd (RIO.AU)$ sank 1.2 per cent to $113.22. $Woodside Energy Group Ltd (WDS.AU)$ declined 1.2 per cent lower to $35.33.
