Australia's $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ closed 0.7% higher at 7109.6, as strong performance from miners helped offset broad-based weakness elsewhere.
Energy and materials stocks were the day's best performers, rising 1.6% and 3.0%, respectively amid strong oil prices. Consumer discretionary and industrials were the other sectors that finished in the green.
Core Lithium was the day's best performer, adding 8.6%, followed by $Liontown Resources Ltd (LTR.AU)$ which rose 8.3%. $New Hope Corp Ltd (NHC.AU)$ and $Whitehaven Coal Ltd (WHC.AU)$ rose 2.9% and 1.7%, respectively. Fund manager $Magellan Global Fund (MGF.AU)$ declined 11% after it reported ongoing funds outflows.
The ASX 200 finished the week 1.0% higher.
