StampyCat : possibility is there to repurpose businesses from dirty coal or to be able to find assets to acquire. exploration with undeveloped mines is costly with infra to build, high cost of logistics to establish even before able to ship coal onto barge for transport, plus loans also higher costs from related mines acquisition.
Definitely harder to make decisions these days or going forward in coal related.
