How graphite is related to EV
Electric cars are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Graphite is the key material for the production of lithium batteries and is used for the anode of lithium batteries. Graphite accounts for about 25% by weight of a lithium battery. Lithium batteries are composed of cathode, anode, electrolyte and separator. Lithium NMC, lithium cobalt oxide, LFP are common cathodes used commercially, while anodes are all graphite. Each EV has about 70 kg of graphite in the battery pack.
