Australia's $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ closed 0.9% lower at 7346.8, completing a second straight weekly loss with weakness in almost every sector.
The benchmark index traded in the red all day following a weak lead from the U.S. With concern growing about the impact of higher interest rates on Australia's housing market and broader economy.
$QBE Insurance Group Ltd (QBE.AU)$ surged 7.4% after raising its dividend, but the financial sector still fell 0.75%. The sector's 4.3% weekly drop was its largest since June. Tech stocks gave back most of Thursday's gains, while utilities and consumer staples were the only sectors to close higher. The ASX 200 lost 1.2% for the week.
