XPEV's Q4 FY22 Earnings Conference Call is to be hosted on March 17 ET, before the U.S. markets open! The consensus estimate for revenue is expected at $770 million, indicating a nearly 38.2% year-on-year (YoY) plunge. The EPS is estimated at minus $2.10 for this quarter.

XPeng announced that it delivered 22,204 vehicles in Q4, above the upper end of the previous guidance, but decreased 46.8% YoY and down 24.9% from the third quarter. The soft results were mainly due to challenging demands and pricing dynamics in China. According to Deutsche Bank analyst Edison Yu, the Q1 deliveries are around 20,000 units, and the gross margin may drop to single-digit as promotions take hold. This is likely to hurt the firm’s revenues in the following quarters.

Considering weak sales, the leading EV player tried to improve capacity utilization. On January 9, XPeng signed agreements with China Auto Renta (a car rental company) and Geely's travel service platform, and completed the first delivery of its XPeng P7 vehicles. Besides, XPeng has already started the expansion in Europe, where large fleet deals are more common due to the region's high percentage of corporate fleets but low availability of economical BEV options.
