The Australian share market closed firmer on Friday, buoyed by the energy sector. The big four banks all ended the day in positive territory.

The $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ climbed 29 points, or 0.4 per cent, to finish the day at 6994.8.

The energy sector was the best performing, rising 1.9 per cent. $Liontown Resources Ltd (LTR.AU)$ shares surged 8.2 per cent to $1.65 per share and $Paladin Energy Ltd (PDN.AU)$'s shares jumped 6.9 per cent 62¢ per share.

The worst performing sector was REITs, which fell 1.4 per cent.

$Kelsian Group Ltd (KLS.AU)$ shares tumbled 7.4 per cent to $5.80 per share. $Evolution Mining Ltd (EVN.AU)$ shares dropped 5.2 per cent to $2.58 per share.

$BHP Group Ltd (BHP.AU)$ shares closed the day unchanged at $43.19 per share.
