$S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ was up 1 per cent by 72 points to 7034.1 at market close.
The energy sector was the best performing and surged 4.1 per cent. Materials was also in the green, up 2 per cent.
$Liontown Resources Ltd (LTR.AU)$ shares jumped 68.5 per cent to $2.57. $United Malt Group Ltd (UMG.AU)$ shares were up 30.8 per cent to $4.50.
$BHP Group Ltd (BHP.AU)$ Group shares increased 2 per cent to $44.40.
The healthcare sector was the worst performing, it fell 1 per cent. It was one of three sectors in the red.
$Telix Pharmaceuticals Ltd (TLX.AU)$ tumbled 3.1 per cent to $6.81. $Xero Ltd (XRO.AU)$ shares fell 2.9 per cent to $86.43.
The major banks all rose. $CommBank (CBA.AU)$ shares were up 1 per cent to $96.06. $Westpac Banking Corp (WBC.AU)$ increased 1.4 per cent to $21.53. $ANZ Group Holdings Ltd (ANZ.AU)$ edged up 0.9 per cent to $22.64. $National Australia Bank Ltd (NAB.AU)$ shares rose 0.9 per cent to $27.66.
