Google claims its AI Supercomputer is faster and greener than Nvidia's?
It is the age of supremacy for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
Ever since ChatGPT took on the stage, chip stocks have rallied from their bottom.
$Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$ the parent company of Google, found itself playing second fiddle by launching Bard late.
But, just recently, Google claims that its AI Supercomputer is faster and greener than $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$'s!
You can read about the news here, while I give my thoughts and opinions.
1. Google started its chip design ages ago
Now for those who are uninformed, Google has been designing its own chips ever since May 2016. So this version of chips that we are seeing now, are basically enhanced versions since then.
90% of all of the company's work on AI is using Google's chips - Tensor Processing Unit (TPU).
2. It published a paper to prove that!
Now it's easy to claim speed superiority. Anyone can make a blind claim.
So this claim could well be true!
3. What did Nvidia say?
An Nvidia spokesperson was contacted but declined to comment.
So, do you believe that Google can outrun Nvidia in chip supremacy?
