Intel shown to put in big orders with TSMC for next-gen Arc GPUs

There may have been some shaky starts for Intel's Arc discrete GPU range. However, their recent driver updates have made the Intel $Intel(INTC.US)$ Arc A750 an affordable entry-level option for high-performance 1080p gaming.
Intel shown to put in big orders with TSMC for next-gen Arc GPUs
In a market where there are only two major players (NVIDIA $NVIDIA(NVDA.US)$ and AMD $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD.US)$), a third company could mean more competition, especially when it's a giant like Intel.
According to a new report by Commercial Times, a Taiwan-based media company, it says that Intel is placing big orders for silicon for next-generation Intel Arc graphics cards at TSMC $Taiwan Semiconductor(TSM.US)$, codenamed Batteimage and Celestial.
It is unclear how large the orders were, but Intel seems confident that e-sports, AI, and other applications will drive GPU demand.
For the launch dates, Taiwanese insiders reckon Battleimage is going for the second half of 2024, and for Celestial, the second half of 2026, leaving them plenty of time.
Almost certainly, Nvidia and AMD will be rolling out yet another new generation GPUs themselves in late 2024.
So Intel’s driver team will have to keep working hard pushing updates and tuning performance to get the best performance possible from existing silicon.
What do you think? Are we seeing the rise of Intel again?
