SpaceX is planning its first orbital launch of the Starship/Super Heavy stack on April 17, 2023, from an orbital launch pad in Starbase, Texas. The launch is subject to change as SpaceX is taking all precautions necessary to ensure Starship/SuperHeavy collects as much data as possible during its flight. The objective of the mission is for Ship 24 to successfully reenter the atmosphere and land about 100 km off the coast of Kauai, without any payload. Booster 7 will perform a boostback burn and attempt a soft water landing in the Gulf of Mexico. The launch can be viewed in person from South Padre Island or through official and unofficial live streams.
SpaceX has scheduled the flight as early as 9 a.m. Eastern time, and it could launch any time between then and 10:30 a.m. The company had earlier said it would the launch as early as 8 a.m.
