$Hesai(HSAI.US)$ With the popularity of advanced driver-assistance systems, lidar has become an immediate requirement for many high-end models. Lidar can provide high-precision three-dimensional sensing for smart cars, effectively complement and redundant cameras, and provide higher safety. It is a key sensing hardware enabling the implementation of L2+ and L2++ ADAS applications.

In order to adapt to market changes, on April 14, Shanghai Hesai Technology officially released the latest automotive-grade ultra-thin long-range lidar: ET25, for the ADAS front-loading mass production market. This is a lidar product named after its height. ET means extremely thin (extremely thin), and the body is only 25 mm high and extremely thin. So, what are the advantages of this product?

Three highlights take you to know about the LiDAR ET25

ET25 is an automotive-grade ultra-thin long-range lidar launched by Hesai Technology for the ADAS front-loading mass production market. It has the following three highlights:

Highlight 1. Thin and compact. The ET25 has a body height of only 25 mm. Compared to Hesai's flagship AT128 lidar, the ET25 lidar is nearly half thinner, but not only is its performance not sacrificed, but it is more powerful. Its FOV is 120° (H) x 25° (V), the measurement range is 250 meters without a windshield, and it can reach 225 meters behind the windshield. The point frequency exceeds 3 million per second, and the minimum resolution is only 0.05° x 0.05°. It can bring ultra-high-definition long-range three-dimensional sensing to smart cars.

Highlight 2. More advanced and more sensitive. Thanks to Hesai's new-generation self-developed transceiver chip, the more advanced laser transceiver module increases the sensitivity of the ET25 receiver chip by several times, thereby increasing the range measurement capability of 905nm lidar to more than 250 meters for objects with 10% reflectivity, helping smart cars to determine risks in a timely manner and make safer decisions in complex road conditions.

Highlight 3. Low power consumption. The power of the ET25 is only 12W, and the heat dissipation performance is excellent. Even on extremely hot summer days, it can continue to work in the cabin for a long time to maintain high performance operation. Using sensors with lower energy consumption can also help smart cars save battery costs and battery life costs of the entire vehicle.

It is easy to see that ET25 is an innovative product that has broken through the bottleneck of lidar. It uses ultra-thin long-range lidar as the core, providing a new solution for the ADAS front-loading mass production market, which is expected to promote the popularization and application of lidar in the automotive field.

Why is Hesai Technology continuously recognized by global car companies behind the launch of ET25?

As a global automotive lidar market leader, Hesai Technology's ADAS lidar flagship product, AT128, has received mass production targets for millions of lidar units from 11 automobile manufacturers and technology companies, including Ideal, Concentration, Hi-Tech, Lotus, Changan, and SAIC Motor. How has Hesai Technology been favored by major car companies? The main reasons are as follows.

The first is that you can develop your own transceiver chip. Hesai Technology can integrate hundreds of laser transceiver channels into the chip through self-developed chips, so the number of components can be drastically reduced, from about 1000 to 100. At the same time, the supply chain has also been greatly simplified, with key suppliers reduced from around 100 to around 10. In addition, automation in assembly has also saved human and material resources, saved processes and time, reduced quality errors, and achieved “cost reduction”. The performance has been greatly improved, and the resolution of the product can be increased by about 10 times. At the press conference, Hesai pointed out that this set of chip-based technology theory has been tested by mass production and delivery to a certain extent.

The second is the global market layout. Since entering the lidar circuit, Hesai Technology has served many heavyweight customers at home and abroad, widely distributed in fields such as driverless driving, advanced assisted driving, robotics and the Internet of Vehicles, including well-known companies such as the Bosch Group, and more than half of the companies announced by the California DMV that have obtained a driverless public road test license, more than half are Hesai Technology's customers.

In short, with its self-developed chips and global market layout, Hesai Technology has achieved continuous innovation and leading competition in the lidar field, providing customers with high-quality and cost-effective solutions.

epilogue

On the day ET25 was released, Hesai also officially announced that it had reached a strategic cooperation with Fuyao Group to jointly promote the implementation of the ET25 pre-load mass production plan.

At the same time, some industry insiders said that Hesai Technology has done “a lot of small profits in the short term, but it seems like something that must be done in the long run.” Therefore, we firmly believe that in the future, the best lidar in the world may come from domestic companies such as Hesai.
