The $S&P/ASX 200 (.XJO.AU)$ finished Tuesday down 0.3 per cent as the energy sector lost 1.9 per cent, with $Woodside Energy Group Ltd (WDS.AU)$ down 2.4 per cent and $Santos Ltd (STO.AU)$ off 1.9 per cent. On Monday $Macquarie Technology Group Ltd (MAQ.AU)$ warned the pair could be hit by proposed Labor government tax changes.
The best-performing sector was utilities up 0.7 per cent as $APA Group (APA.AU)$ added 1.6 per cent.
Among the small caps $Telix Pharmaceuticals Ltd (TLX.AU)$ jumped 12.7 per cent on a trading update, with Neuren adding 5.6 per cent to a record high $14.20 on a sales update.
$Core Lithium Ltd (CXO.AU)$ also added 6.5 per cent to 98.5¢ on a production update.
