Prices have increased twice in the first week of May! Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory delivered more than 0.075 million vehicles in April
$Tesla (TSLA.US)$ Recently, the Passenger Transport Federation announced the estimated sales volume for April. Of these, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory delivered a total of 75,842 vehicles in April. Meanwhile, the Tesla Model 3 became the best-selling luxury sedan in the Chinese market in the first quarter.
Furthermore, on May 2, Tesla Model 3 and Model Y officially announced price increases in the Chinese market, an increase of 2,000 yuan, and the starting price rose to 0.2,319 million yuan and 263,900 yuan, respectively. Immediately after that, on May 5, the prices of all Tesla Model S and Model X models were raised by 0.019 million yuan. The adjusted starting prices for these two cars were 0.8089 million yuan and 898,900 yuan, respectively.
Although Tesla's price adjustments have made domestic consumers wonder, there have been dozens of price adjustments from last year to now. Among them, the Model 3 and Model Y models had the biggest price cuts of 0.014 million yuan and 37,000 yuan, respectively. However, in addition to regular price cuts, Tesla will also increase the prices of models sold in China.
This US car company's price strategy is not trading according to common sense. If the price reduction is to stimulate sales growth, then why is the price increase? According to reports, Tesla's sales volume in the Chinese market in the first quarter was 0.2293 million vehicles, up 21% year on year, but profits fell 20%. Therefore, making up for lost profits may be one of the reasons for the price increase. On the other hand, it dispels the wait-and-see attitude of users holding coins and using price increases to force orders, thereby stimulating sales growth.
