Buzzing Stocks List & Mooers Comments
US equity markets bounced back on Friday as the latest jobs report suggested the labor market remained strong, despite the Fed's recent rate hikes. However, concerns about the banking sector following the collapse of First Republic Bank earlier in the week limited gains and led to slight losses for the week. The Dow and Nasdaq finished flat for the week, while the S&P 500 was down 1.2%. The 10-year Treasury yield climbed ten basis points on Friday to 3.43%. Crude oil prices, which had fallen earlier in the week due to concerns over demand after rate hikes by the Fed and the ECB, recovered some losses on Friday. WTI crude prices dropped roughly 7% weekly to $71 per barrel. (As of May 8, 2023)
