<ul><li><p>Producer Price Index for May: <span style="font-weight:bold;">-0.3%</span> In comparison, the consensus for April was -0.1%, and +0.2% (unchanged). </p></li><li><p>Year-on-year, the Producer Price Index rose by <span style="font-weight:bold;">1.1%</span>, lagging behind the consensus of 1.5%, while last month's growth rate was 2.3%. </p></li></ul><p>The government stated that another wholesale price index, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, as well as trade profit margins, remained unchanged last month. </p><p>Over the past year, the inflation rate for these so-called core prices has decelerated from 3.3% to 2.8%, the smallest increase since February 2021. </p><p>As senior officials ended a two-day key meeting on Wednesday, the weak wholesale inflation report may further justify the Federal Reserve's internal reasons for skipping the upward adjustment of US key interest rates.</p><p>The inflation rate is slowing down, and the decline in wholesale prices suggests that more progress may be made in the summer.</p><div class="futu-news-time-stamp" style="display: none" futu-news-time-stamp="1686746926721"></div>
