<li><p>The producer price index for May: <span style="font-weight:bold;">-0.3%</span>, compared to the consensus of -0.1% in April, was +0.2% (unchanged).</p></li> <ul> </ul><li><p>In terms of YoY, the producer price index rose <span style="font-weight:bold;">1.1%</span>, behind the consensus of 1.5%, compared to 2.3% growth last month.</p></li> <p>The government said another wholesale price indicator to remove fluctuations in food and energy costs and trade margins was flat last month.</p> <p>These so-called core price increases have slowed from 3.3% to 2.8% over the past year, the smallest increase since February 2021.</p> <p>Weak wholesale inflation reports may further exacerbate the reason for the Fed's internal “skipping” the US key rate hike as senior officials end their two-day key meeting on Wednesday.</p> <p>Inflation is slowing down, and the fall in wholesale prices suggests more progress may be made in the summer.</p> <div class="futu-news-time-stamp" style="display: none" futu-news-time-stamp="1686746926721"></div>
