What is Heat Map?
The Heat Map shows investors where liquidity is in a market and how liquidity providers behave on a given day. It is a very convenient feature for beginners. It can help you quickly overview the stock market from three easy-to-understand parameters: sector area, color, and brightness.
Based on the different filters, a typical heat map can illustrate to the investors how the market is moving in real-time, whether the trading volume has been going up or down in the specified time frame, say 1 hour. On moomoo, by clicking 'Filter,' you can select the Sort settings, Quantity, %Chg and Bordering Box Size Ratio Limit according to your demand.
How to interpret the Heat Map?
Area of a sector
Market Cap, Volume, and Turnover can draw the heat map. Take the heat map drawn by Market Cap as an example. The larger the total market value of the corresponding stock is, the larger the sector area will be. The sector area is calculated as follows:
Sector Area = Total Area * Sector Market Cap / Total Market Cap
Color
The square color reflects the gains and losses of a sector. The stronger the price moves, the greater the contrast between the square and background colors.
Green Up / Red Down:
Brightness
Stock prices fluctuate daily, and a heat map provides an investor with a visual representation of these fluctuations at a glance through different shades of colors. The deeper the shade of these colors, the greater the fluctuations.
