Eddie Yue Says De-dollarization Unlikely to Occur in Next 2 Decades, But Significance of RMB Will Grow
The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Eddie Yue, stated that he believes de-dollarization will not occur, and that the US dollar will remain an important international currency for the next 10 to 20 years.
A large part of international trade will still rely on the US dollar, but as China's economic ties with the world strengthen, the RMB will gradually become one of the major currency options for trade or investments, he added.
